Welcome to our website news page.

This page will be updated regularly with Broomgrove news. We hope everyone will enjoy looking at the photos and reading news about recent activities and events happening at the nursing home.

Activities take lots of photographs each week but many cannot be posted on this website due to consent forms not being completed. If you would like a photography consent form please email a request to admin@broomgrove-trust.co.uk  Please also note that Broomgrove no longer has a Facebook page so photographs would only be posted on this official website.

September has been a VERY busy month for birthdays, with seven so far including one of our oldest residents Joyce who was celebrating her 104th! She has written the anthology of poems ‘The Shepherd’s Wife’ and has more poems in the pipeline. Residents enjoy our monthly ‘Poetry Club’ which always features some of Joyce’s poems.

On September the 8th we made some lemon, blueberry muffins for a coffee morning to mark the anniversary of the Queen’s death. Activity staff and residents are enjoying baking together and producing some very tasty treats.

Kit’s choice of Gilbert & Sullivan for ‘Music Morning’ was greatly received. The Activity ladies would appreciate help from friends and relatives of our residents to compile their own playlists of favourite songs to share with everyone at Broomgrove.

This week the young children and their childminders, who visit the home every month, enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and singing.  It is always lovely to see the residents joining in with them.

It was wonderful to have Sharon, the hairdresser, back at Broomgrove on Wednesday after her well-deserved holiday. Everybody had missed their weekly pamper.

Art and Crafts was ‘paint pouring’ this week which produced some lovely individual designs and the residents have had plenty of opportunity to exercise, with Exercise Morning, Yoga and Active Games.

We had another constructive residents’ meeting, these are held approximately every 6 weeks and give residents and their families chance to chat openly with Broomgrove management and staff.

My mother, who died recently, lived at Broomgrove for the final three and a half years of her life. She had moved house only once before, over 90 years previously, but she quickly felt at home in Broomgrove. Because Broomgrove offers nursing care, my mother was glad to know that she would be unlikely to need a further move. It was also reassuring to know that Broomgrove is an independent, well established, local charitable Trust.
Broomgrove provides exceptionally good care and an amazing programme of activities and social events. My mother especially enjoyed Broomgrove’s lovely sheltered garden – one of the many features of Broomgrove that make it ‘home’ rather than ‘A Home’. For residents and their family and friends, Broomgrove removes the worry of day to day care and makes spending time with loved ones a real pleasure. We all felt – and will always feel - part of Broomgrove’s extended ‘family’ and we are so grateful to all the staff, management and trustees.

My aunt has been a resident at Broomgrove for nearly ten years and whilst she has many challenges physically, her intellect is as sharp as ever. She's always felt totally at home at Broomgrove. I visit her regularly and she's always full of praise for the care and professionalism of the staff. The home always has a relaxed and happy vibe and the staff always go the extra mile to ensure she's as comfortable as possible.
